Once an order is packed, buying the label is the last step. SellersGo pulls live rates from every carrier connected to your ShipStation or Shippo account, you pick a service, and the label and tracking number are attached to the order.
Where: Orders → open an order → Buy Label
Before you start
Four things must be in place, and a missing one is almost always the reason the rate list comes back empty:
A shipping carrier integration — see "Connect a shipping carrier (ShipStation or Shippo)"
A warehouse to ship from — see "Set up warehouse locations and package types"
Package dimensions and weight — saved as a package type or entered by hand
For international destinations, a customs declaration — see "International orders and customs declarations"
You also need label-purchase permission on your role.
Buy a label for one order
Open the order and click Buy Label. The modal opens as "Buy Shipping Label for Order {number}".
Shipping From — pick the warehouse. It is pre-filled from the store's default warehouse if you set one.
Ship To — the buyer's address, shown for review. Check the verification status: Address Validated Successfully (good to go), Address Validation Warning (deliverable but review it), Address Validation Failed (fix it before buying). Use Override Address if you need a different destination for this shipment, and Verify Address to re-check after editing. Set Residential or Non-residential correctly — it changes the price with several carriers.
Package Type — choose Preset and pick a saved package type, or Manual and enter Length, Width, Height and Package Weight (lbs / oz, inches).
Pick Up Date — the date the parcel is handed to the carrier. Do not backdate it; some carriers reject labels dated in the past.
Click Get Shipping Rates.
Shipping Rates from Carriers lists every available service with its price. Pick one.
Click Buy Shipping Label. You will see "Shipping label has been bought successfully."
The label, tracking number and cost are now attached to the order under Shipping Labels, and the purchase is written to History.
Buy labels in bulk
From the Orders list, select several orders with the row checkboxes, then start the label purchase from the selection drawer. SellersGo processes them one at a time and shows "Purchasing label {current} of {total}".
Do not close the modal while it runs. "Warning: Closing this modal will cancel the purchase process!" Labels already bought are kept; the remainder are not purchased.
When it finishes you get one of:
"Successfully purchased {total} shipping labels"
"Bulk purchase completed: {n} successful, {m} failed out of {total}" — the summary separates Successful from Failed so you can retry only the failures
"All {total} label purchases failed" — usually a shared cause: expired carrier credentials, or a missing warehouse
Bulk purchase works best on a batch you have already normalized — same package type, same origin, domestic destinations.
Print the label and packing slip
From the Shipping Labels panel on the order:
Click to Download Label — the label PDF
Click to Download Packing Slip — the slip PDF
Click to download slip, label and packaging attachment — where the store has a Packaging Attachment File configured, all three arrive as one combined PDF, ready to print in a single job
If you see "Slip PDF is not available", the slip has not been generated for that order yet — refresh the order and try again.
Refund a label
Bought the wrong service, or the order was cancelled after you printed?
In Shipping Labels, use Click to Refund Label.
Confirm "Do you want to refund the label?"
You will see "Sending refund request. Please wait!" then "Label refunded successfully".
The label is marked Refunded. Refund eligibility, timing and the amount are decided by the carrier, not by SellersGo — most carriers only refund unused labels, and often only within a window of a few weeks.
Recording a label bought elsewhere
If you ship through a channel SellersGo does not buy from, record the shipment so tracking and reporting stay complete:
Add Shipping Label — pick or type the Carrier Code (for example stamps_com, ups, dhl, fedex), enter the tracking number and ship date, and Upload PDF of the label. PDF only.
Add Tracking Number — when you only have the tracking number.
Troubleshooting
"No shipping option was found that matches your search criteria." Nothing was returned for this combination. Check, in this order: carriers are toggled On under Settings → Shipping Carriers; the Shipping From warehouse is set; dimensions and weight are plausible (a 300 lb parcel filters out most services); the destination is serviceable by your carriers.
"You need to create a declaration before you can get rates." The destination is international. Create the customs declaration first — see "International orders and customs declarations".
"An error occurred while fetching shipping rates." Usually the carrier account. Confirm the API key and secret are still valid under Settings → Shipping Carriers → Update Carrier.
"Shipping label could not be bought." The rate was quoted but the purchase failed. Common causes: the quote expired (get rates again), insufficient balance in the carrier account, or the address was rejected at purchase time. Re-run Get Shipping Rates and retry.
"Failed to fetch carrier services." The integration is not responding. Check the credentials, then contact support if it persists.
Frequently asked questions
Can I compare rates across carriers? Yes — every enabled carrier from every connected integration appears in one list, so you can compare across ShipStation and Shippo side by side.
Where does the money come from? From your ShipStation or Shippo account. SellersGo does not charge for postage; it initiates the purchase on your carrier account.
Can I buy two labels for one order? Yes. Multi-parcel orders can hold several labels, each listed separately with its own tracking number.
What are the label costs in my reports? Every purchase feeds Reports → Label Reports, with cost by store, carrier and service, plus trends over time. See "Reports and dashboards".
